John L. Yearwood
John L. Yearwood, 68, a resident of Galatia and formerly of Mt. Vernon, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Harrisburg Medical Center. Mr. Yearwood was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Jefferson County, the son of J. E. and Clara (Dorris) Yearwood. On April 23, 1948, he married Rheba Piercy, who survives. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the American Legion Post No. 593 in Equality. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Boyd Cemetery with the Rev. Buss Hart a d Bob Prather officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Melvin Leroy Davidson of Texico, John David Yearwood of Keezletown, Va., and Donnie Yearwood of Mt. Vernon, two brothers, Charles and Walter Yearwood both of Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Mrs. Faye Keef and Mrs. Betty Newell, both of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Mary Harmon and Mrs. Dorothy Issac (sic), both of Roxana, and Mrs. Edith Gilbert of Panama City, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
