Augusta M Stratton 1845/1902-M.- Anna Mae Wagner 3. David F,Stratton 12/20/1842 4. Stratton B. 1866/1895 Married 3rd March 18, 1882 to Eliza Koser She was born May 16, 1842 and died Jan 20, 1906 See Obituary No children that we know of, Stephen Thatcher Stratton enlisted in the Civil War, August 25, 1862. He was the Captain of Company E, 80th Infantry. After the war he built the Stratton mansion that was located at 701 Jordan. He made his fortune from sugar during the war. He owned the Hardware at ninth and Broadway before the war. The building was 3 stories tall, it had a Drug Store and a Dry Goods store on the first floor, The Opera House was on the second floor and the Family's living Quarters were on the third floor before the war. It was destroyed by the Tornado of 1888. He also had the Crews building on the S/W corner of Ninth and B'way at one time. That was also destroyed by the Tornado. He rebuilt and on the first floor there was a lending Library until the Public Library was built. |
