This tintype of Dr. Hughey was reportedly taken while he was away serving in the Civil War.

According to the story I was told, he bought the cloth and made the shirt he is wearing.

This tintype is Dr. Hughey as he appeared in the last years of his life.
I don't have an exact date for this one but I am guessing the late 1880's

Albert M. Womelduff
May 20,1861 April 26,1880

James Henry Womelduff's brother, Albert M, moved up from Kentucky to work for his brother.

My great grandmother told me that her grandfather, Dr Hughey, had treated a child with measles and had wrapped his blanket around the child.

He brought the blanket home and the measles spread throughout the family. She said her older sisters all caught the measles but survived. Albert, however, did not survive them and died in Spring Garden on 26 April 1880. He is buried in Smith Cemetery.

Smith Family Reunion ca 1905

The Smith Family Reunion was always held at the Smith Cemetery.
I think in recent years they have moved indoors because of the heat and humidity.
