Minnie Davenport Kniffen married Charles Carroll Kniffen,
son of Alfred Kniffen who owned the Kniffen Hotel.
Charles worked for the L & N Railroad.
He was killed Thanksgiving day 1896 when he was struck by a train in the rail yard.
This house was destroyed by fire in the 1930's.

Minnie had her rural home moved across from the railroad depot (in Belle Rive) and created a hotel/boarding house/telephone exchange in order to support her family following Charles Kniffens death. I am also sending a photo marked as "Kniffen home before the move into town". We see Minnie with her four children.
