David Cockrum's Will

I David Cockrum of the County of Jefferson and State of Illinois do hereby make and declare this my last will and Testaments in manner and form Following to wit

First. It is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.

Second. After the payment of such funeral expenses and debts I give, device, and bequith unto my beloved step son John Allen the following described land to wit the North West quarter of the South West quarter of Section Eleven town four South Range three East containing forty acres and

I give, device, and bequith unto my beloved step daughter Elizabeth Jones wife of James Jones the following described land to wit, the North East quarter of the North East quarter of Section Fifteen in Township four South of Range three East containing forty acres

and I give, device, and bequith unto my beloved step son Charles R. Allen the following described land to wit the North West of the North East quarter Section Fifteen town four South of Range three East containing forty acres

and I give, device, and bequith unto my beloved step daughter Emaline Laird wife of Joseph Laird the following described land to wit the South West of the South East quarter of Section Ten town four South of Range three East containing forty acres

and I give, device, and bequith unto my beloved daughter Sophia Johnson wife of James Johnson the following described land to wit the South West quarter of the South West quarter of Section twenty one in Township four South of Range three East containing forty acres it being the land set off for her by Bond for Title

and I also give, device, and bequith unto my beloved son Rush Cockrum the following described land to wit the South West quarter of the South West quarter of Section Sixteen, also the North East quarter of the South East quarter of Section four town four South of Range three East in all containing eighty acres

and I also give, device, and bequith unto my beloved daughter Sarah Ellen Cockrum Adams wife of Andrew W. Adams the South East quarter of the South East quarter of Section ten in town four South of Range three East containing forty acres

and I also give, device, and bequith unto my beloved daughter Myrah Atchesson wife of Ignatious Atchesson Juner the North East of the South East of Section ten town four South of Range three East containing forty acres

and I also give, device, and bequith unto my beloved daughter Nancy Jane Cockrum the South West quarter of the North East? of Section ? town four South of Range three East containing forty acres, and should any of the above lands should fall on lands conveyed from me to George Johnson then the said lands so falling shall fall back on any timbered land belonging to me

and I do give, device, and bequeth to my beloved wife Nancy Cockrum all the ballence my estate bouth real and personal consisting of the East half and the North West of the South East of Section Sixteen town four South of Range three East and all my personal effects of every kind ???? whether she shall pay all my just debts and lastly I also constitute and apoint my said wife and James Jones my Execuritrix and Executor, in witness whereof, I, the said David Cockrum have herein to set my hand and seal this Eight day of November in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty Eight.

David Cockram died as it is said after making his last will and Testament,
on or about the 14th day of Nov 1858.

who after being duly sworn says they are the subscribing witnesses to
the last will and Testament of David Cockram dec'd and that we saw the
Testator sign said will or acknowledge the same to be his free act and
deed and there we believe the Testator was of sound mind and memory at
the time of signing the same.

(Dec. 20, 1858) Executor's Bond

Know all men by these presents, that we James Jones and Nancy Cockram John Allen Solomon Goddard, of the county of Jefferson and state of Illinois, are held and firmly bound unto the People of the state of Illinois in the penal sum of four thousand Dollars, current money of the United States, which payment, well and truly to be made, we and each of us, bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly, severally and firmly, by these presents.

Witness our hands and seals, this 20th day of December, A. D., 1858.

The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bounden James Jones and Nancy Cockram executors of the Last Will and Testament of David Cockram, deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits, lands, tenements and hereditaments, and the rents and profits issuing out of the same, of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of the said James Jones and Nancy Cockram, or to the hands of any other person for them, and the same, so made, do exhibit in the County Court of for the said county of Jefferson, as required by law, and also make and render a fair and just account of their actings and doings, as such executors to said Court, when thereunto lawfully required; and to well and truly fulfill the duties enjoined on them in and by the said Will; and shall moreover pay and deliver to the persons entitled thereto all the legacies and bequests

And as the law shall charge them, and shall, do all other acts which may from time to time be required of us, by law, then this Obligation to be void -- otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

I, David COCKRUM, of the County of Jefferson and the State of Illinois do hereby make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following to wit:

FIRST: It is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.

SECOND: After the payment of such funeral expenses and debts I give, device, and bequeath unto my beloved step-son JOHN ALLEN the following described land to wit: the North West Quarter of the South West Quarter of Section Eleven Township Four South Range of Three East containing forty acres

and I give, device, and bequeath unto my beloved step-daughter ELIZABETH JONES wife of JAMES JONES the following described land to wit; the North East Quarter of Section Fifteen in Township Four South of Range Three East containing forty acres

and I also give, device and bequeath unto my beloved daughter NANCY JANE COCKRUM the North East Quarter of Section ______ Township Four South of Range Three East containing forty acres and should any of the above lands should fall on lands conveyed from me to GEORGE JOHNSON the said lands so falling shall fall back on any timbered land belonging to me

and I do give, device and bequeath unto my beloved wife NANCY COCKRUM all the ballence of my estate bouth real and personal consisting of the East half and the North West of the South East of Section Sixteen Township Four South
