APPRAISEMENT BILL
WARRANT TO APPRAISERS
Estate of R. W. S. Fryer, Deceased.
STATE OF ILLINOIS,
Jefferson County			In County Court, July Term, A. D. 1876.
The People of the State of Illinois, to H. J. Reed, L. Fitzjerrell and 
James Peavler of the County of Jefferson and State of Illinois, GREETING:
This is to authorize you, jointly, to appraise the goods, chattels and 
personal estate of R. W. S. Fryer late of the County of Jefferson and 
State of Illinois, deceased, so far as the same shall come to your sight 
and knowledge, each of you having taken the oath hereto annexed; a 
certificate whereof you are to return, annexed to an Appraisement Bill of 
said goods, chattels and personal property, by you appraised in dollars 
and cents; and In the said bill of appraisement you are to set down in a 
column or columns, opposite to each article appraised, the value thereof.

STATE OF ILLINOIS.
          Know all Men by these Presents, that we John Cockrum of the County 
of Jefferson and State of Illinois, are held and firmly bound unto the People 
of the State of Illinois, in the penal sum of Four Hundred Dollars, current 
money of the United States, which payment well and truly to be made and performed, 
we and each of us do hereby bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators 
and assigns, jointly, severally and firmly by these presents.
	Witness our hands and seals this 15th day of July A. D. 1876.

	The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said John Cockrum 
Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of 
R. W. S. Fryer deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory 
of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased, 
which shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of him the said John Cockrum 
as such administrator or to the hands of any person or persons for him and the same 
so made, do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited in the County Court for the said County 
of Jefferson, agreeably to law, and all the rest of the said goods and chattels, rights 
and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of the said administrator 
the same being first examined and allowed by the County Court, shall deliver any pay 
unto such person or persons respectively, as may be legally entitled thereto, and further 
do make a just and true account of all his actings and doings therein, when thereunto 
required by the said Court; and if it shall hereafter appear that nay last will and 
testament was made by the deceased, and the same be proved in Court, and letters testamentary 
or of administration be obtained thereon, and the said John Cockrum do, in such case, on 
being required thereto, render and deliver up the letters of administration granted to him 
aforesaid, and shall in general do and perform all other acts which may at any time be 
required of him by law, then this obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force 
and virtue.

Petition of John Cockrum in the matter of the Estate of R. W. S. Fryer deceased, for 
Letters of Administration.
To the Hon. Jared Foster Judge of the County Court of Jefferson County, in the State of Illinois.
The Petition of the undersigned, John Cockrum respectfully represents that R. W. S. Fryer late 
of the county of Jefferson aforesaid, departed this life at his residence in said County, on or 
about the 19th day of January A. D. 1872, leaving no last will and testament, as far as your 
petitioner knows or believes.
And this petitioner further shows that the said R. W. S. Fryer died, seized and possessed of 
Real and Personal Estate, consisting chiefly of:
Two horses & one wagon & farming utensils & household furniture &c. and 60 acres of land all 
of said personal estate being estimated to be worth about two hundred dollars.  That said 
deceased left surviving him Anna Fryer his widow and Walter Fryer, Hester Fryer, George Fryer, 
and Jane Fryer his children as heirs.  That your petitioner (being requested by the creditors 
of said deceased, and) believing that the said estate should be immediately administered as 
well for the proper management of said estate as for the prompt collection of the assets, by 
virtue of his right under the Statute he therefore prays that your honor will grant Letters of 
Administration to him in the premises, upon his taking the oath prescribed by the Statute, and 
entering into bond in such sum, and with securities, as may be approved by your honor.

	I do solemnly swear that I will well and truly administer all and singular the goods 
and chattels, rights, credits and effects of R W S Fryer deceased, and pay all just claims 
and charges against his estate so far as his goods, chattel and effects shall extend, and 
the law charge me; and that I will do and perform all other acts required of me by law, to 
the best of my knowledge and abilities.

Copy of ADMINISTRATOR’S NOTICE attached:
	Estate of R. W. S. Fryer, deceased.
The undersigned, having been appointed Administrator of the estate of R. W. S. Fryer, late 
of the county of Jefferson, and State of Illinois, dec’d., hereby gives notice that he will 
appear before the county court of Jefferson county, at the Court House in Mount Vernon, at 
the September term, A. D. 1876, of said court, on the third Monday in September, next, at 
which time all persons having claims against said estate are notified and requested to 
attend for the purpose of having the same adjusted.  All person indebted to said estate 
are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned.

We, the undersigned, appointed by the Honorable County Court of said County, to appraise 
the goods, chattels and personal estate of R. W. S. Friar late of said County, deceased, 
do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct Appraisement Bill of said goods, 
chattels and personal estate, so far as the same have come to our sight and knowledge; that 
we have appraised each article at its true value according to the best of our skill and 
judgment, having fist taken the oath required by law.

Jefferson County	ss		Aug. Term 1878

To the Hon. C. A. Keller Judge of said Court -
The undersigned Admr. of the estate of R. W. S. Fryer deceased respectfully reports that 
the whole of the personal property of the said estate amounts to the sum of $131.00 and 
that the amount of personal dower allowed the widow of the said deceased amounts to the 
sum of $824.00 and that as seen the personal property and assets of said estate do not 
exceed the amount of the widows allowance after deducting the necessary expenses incurred.
The undersigned further respectfully reports that he has delivered with the said widow of 
the said deceased the whole of said personal property.  He therefore asks that he may be 
discharged from any liability, as such administrator, all of which is respectfully submitted 
and prayed to be approved.
